Sunday night saw the Festival Finale – a dinner at the Railway Hotel with entertainment The event was fully booked and from the reports going around the village, anyone who wasn’t there missed a fantastic evening.

Auchinleck was certainly “Alive and Kicking” throughout the weekend of 6th – 8th August 2010 when it’s first ever festival got under way- with music as it’s main theme, but lots of other events adding to the variety of the programme, even the weather played it’s part as the sun emerged after a rainy week to shine on the festivities.

Saturday evening the village was alive with music at no less than six different venues - The Market Inn, The Outdoor Bowling Club, The Indoor Bowling Club, The Railway Hotel, The Boswell Arms and The Talbot Social Club.

Throughout the whole weekend the Funfair at the old school site in the Main Street added to the Festival Atmosphere

Festival 2010

Sunday morning at the Parish Church the churchgoers were welcomed to an ecumenical service and afterwards it seemed like the village descended on Beechwood Park for a fun-filled afternoon at the Gala Day.

After the official opening by Provost Stephanie Young  at the Community Centre on Friday evening the audience  was treated to some splendid music with a great range in genre - a terrific start to what proved to be a great weekend.

Saturday morning saw the re-opening of the Trim Trail at Cameron Drive by EAC Chief Executive Fiona Lees who then went on to the Art Exhibition at the Peden Hall. There was also a Craft Fair at the Indoor Bowling Club throughout the day, and Football at Beechwood Park in the afternoon.

A lot of time and effort went into this Festival and a big thank you to all who helped make it possible, the organisers, volunteers, artistes, stall-holders and venue owners.

All in all it was a great success, judging by the comments floating around, but there is no doubt the good weather certainly helped. Some mistakes were made as we are all on a learning curve, but hopefully we will learn from these and next year’s Festival will be even better. Many of the artistes who performed this year are hoping to be invited back again for our next Festival and all wished us great success for all our future events.
